melbourne photo diary.

A quick trip down to Gotham City (Melbourne) for some vintage shopping, extravagant cakes, gallery visits and general frivolity. I had a great time staying in a friend's ridiculously amazing penthouse apartment, spending hours in Chapel Street Bazaar, eating my weight in tiramisu on Ackland Street, buying out the Fitzroy Spanish deli and shopping for antique Navajo arrowheads. Melbourne is kind of like my second home and it was lovely to spend some time there before I jetted off overseas. I definitely don't miss the cold, though. Melbourne, I'll visit you again when you are warmer.

an ode to patti.

I'm pretty sure Patti Smith can do no wrong. I mean, she is probably the coolest person around. Not only is her music rocking (I used to listen to Horses over and over again while lying on my bed avoiding homework when I was 16) but she has impeccable style. Her favourite designer is Comme Des Garçons and she wears a white shirt like no other. I also want her entire t-shirt collection. And the leather pants. And boots. And hat. Yeah, I'll just take the lot. Patti, I salute you.

ramble on.

I have just returned to my island home after backpacking around South East Asia for the past month. It is nice to be home (and amazing to wash my hair properly - I never really appreciated good water pressure until now...) but I do miss wandering from place to place. Only a year until the next trip, who's counting? Heaps of travel diary photos to come.

the deep blue.

It must have something to do with my leaving for warmer climates in 10 days, but I've found myself drawing inspiration from the mysterious depths of the sea - mermaids, marine life, sirens, atlantis, lost sailors and all the legends that surround them. I wish there were more underwater editorials.
